Iowa Retina Consultants is a highly specialized practice providing treatment for disorders of the retina and the vitreous of the eye. Our mission is simple: to provide ethical, compassionate care of the highest quality for our patients and prompt, courteous service for all referring doctors.

Established in 1992 and based in West Des Moines, Iowa Retina is comprised of four retina Specialists: Todd W. Heilskov, M.D., M.B.A., Christopher L. Haupert, M.D., James R. Singer, D.O., and Sushant Wagley, M.D.. All of our physicians are board-certified or eligible and have trained extensively at some of the finest institutions in the United States.

The practice has grown over the years, adding offices in Cedar Rapids, Carroll, Mason City, and Creston. We enjoy excellent relationships with doctors across Iowa and receive referrals from many physicians throughout the state.

In addition to our clinical work, we are leaders in our profession. Two of our doctors have served as President of the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology and held various leadership positions with area hospitals and other medical organizations.

We believe in giving back to our community. One way to accomplish this is to help in training the ophthalmologists of tomorrow. Our physicians combine this interest with their commitment to excellence in their capacity as adjunct clinical assistant professors in the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We also give back by serving as volunteer physicians for underprivileged patients.
